Manchester rivals Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden united, says Aidy Boothroyd

England U21 head coach Aidy Boothroyd says he’s been impressed by Mason Greenwood, before revealing the Manchester United forwards is currently sharing a room with bar rival Phil Foden on international responsibility.
Together with the United forward earning his into Boothroyd’s side greenwood along with Manchester City midfielder Foden have been included for the very first time.
The 17-year-old has showcased in all four of United’s games this year, including an impressive cameo from Southampton on Saturday.
“He is a very, very gifted player,” Boothroyd said. “He walks through the doorway and you immediately like him because he is such a humble, nice young bloke.
“He is rooming with Phil funnily enough so that’s the two Manchester lads getting together and performing for England and also residing together for a few weeks too.
“Mason’s a terrific talent, we’ve only had one semester but he looks really striking and will definitely add to the armoury we’ve got.”
Nineteen-year-old Foden has showcased 19 occasions from the Premier League for City since making his debut. Boothroyd says his situation isn’t one to be worried about, despite fighting for minutes this year.
“Phil’s operating with the best players on the world and possibly the best trainer in the world so he is going to have a lot of positives from this,” he added.
“He is not playing games but I think City and Pep [Guardiola] understand what to do together better than perhaps I’d since they watch more of him than I do.”
Since the summer’s unsatisfactory Championship campaign – which watched the team exit of Boothroyd the championship in the group stage – three members of that squad were called up into the side.
Mason Mount, aaron Wan-Bissaka and James Maddison all have been chosen by Gareth Southgate, and Boothroyd believes there’s never been better time to make the step .
“It’s wonderful for me that although we had the disappointment of this summer, three celebrities have come from it. They are all really good characters and I’m absolutely delighted for them,” he explained.

“There has never been a better time to become an England player having a guy who is brave enough to play with them at Gareth.
“I think that they’re three very talented players and they take advantage of these. They are working as hard as they could to be all that they can be.
“They deservedly got into the England team and now they need to do that bit of getting into the group and receiving a few caps under their belt”
The U21s kick-off their European qualifying campaign with a visit to Turkey before three days they head home to play Kosovo at Hull.
