Unai Emery requested Arsenal players to vote for their captain, defender Rob Holding has shown.
Emery introduced a pool of five skippers after his appointment but saw his first choices decimated by summer time departures of Aaron Ramsey, Petr Cech and Laurent Koscielny.
Granit Xhaka has so far worn out the armband from the Premier League this period but is nevertheless to persuade at the function and has been jeered by his own fans during the weekend’s win over Aston Villa, while Mesut Ozil is not the only other member of the initial five still at the club.
Holding, who captained the side following Ozil was substituted during their 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the Carabao Cup, has shown the Arsenal boss recently conducted a poll of their room to choose who receives the armband.
“He enjoys his five captains. We all did a vote another week so we’ll find out what happens and determine who has called,” Holding said.
“It was only a case of writing names down and then committing them to the manager and he’ll go through them obviously with his input – and we’ll see what happens.
“I don’t have any idea [if a statement will soon be made], however there is a good deal of leaders in that team who are helping each other out and shoving each other around.
“Now we’ve got these five captains the manager has brought in it’s spreading the leadership group rather than having one individual to dictate it. You are getting more input, it is creating a great atmosphere.”
While he was unwilling to show his selection of skipper, Holding clarified Xhaka as”a great leader” and also praised the effect of seasoned summertime enrolling David Luiz.
“I like Granit from the changing room. I think he’s excellent. He is really switched to people folks using the telephones. He’s quick to dish from the fines,” Holding additional.
“I think he is a great leader and only another positive person to get in the living area.
“He is extremely demanding and also makes demands of us. He puts responsibility on ourselves, which is important as a pioneer.”
Asked if Arsenal have leaders than critics think, Holding said:”For sure. You are able to view it in practice. How David Luiz comes in and he talks well when he is currently speaking in front of the team.
“He speaks highly of us he’s a fantastic addition to earn.”
Holding marked his return in the nine-month injury lay-off after taking the armband from Ozil on Tuesday by just seconds, and the 24-year-old has ambitions of performing the job.
“I would like to be a captain along with being captain of Arsenal is unbelievable. It would be a fantastic feeling,” he said.
“We will find out what happens in the next few weeks. Should I get it, then I’ll be more than happy and how exactly to get it done.”
