Turner: Panthers can be ‘explosive’ with healthy Cam

Cam Newton is scheduled to throw in all quarterback drills when the Panthers open mandatory minicamp on Tuesday because his rehabilitation from offseason shoulder ramps up.
Speaking to Albert Breer of The MMQB, offensive coordinator Norv Turner stated Newton has been throwing for”the previous month,” and his public display during minicamp is simply the next phase of the process.

“He’s actually attacked this rehabilitation, and he has done what he could possibly do physically to return to where he’s using the shoulder,” Turner told Breer over the weekend. “The rehab’s gone great. Evidently, a part of it did his own, a big part of it, until we got back. But because April 20 or so, when we got back, he’s been totally participated, both physically and emotionally.
“It’s been fun to see him. He is very serious about the rehabilitation, but he’s been Cam. Everyone enjoys being around him. He brings energy each and every day, and he’s very helpful with all the young quarterbacks.”
Turner joined the Panthers last year as Carolina attempted to evolve Newton’s match. The first results were fantastic, as the crime screamed from the gate along with the Panthers got off to a hot start. Regrettably, Newton’s shoulder issue imploded the surgery, leading to the end-of-season crash.
Beginning with this week’s minicamp, Turner anticipates a much greater Newton in Year 2 of this scheme.
“His next year in a system, there was change for Cam last year, change for me,” Turner explained. “With the young players, their next year, we ought to see some actual growth — D.J. [Moore], and Curtis Samuel, as well as Christian [McCaffrey]. I believe we can be a really, really volatile crime, and his capacity to do so many things makes it very hard for guards, and we are going to still combine some matters in where he’s the featured ball carrier. We know that it starts with him.”
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the rumblings coming out of this organization imply that Newton is set to”unveil” a huge change for his throwing mechanics.
“From what I’m told this will be more of an unveiling than anything else. I’ve talked to a number of people who have watched Cam Newton throw and they are pretty giddy,” he explained. “One of them even telling me,’You have got to find this. You can’t wait to find this.’
“He’s gotten in a far better location physically and he is going to make sure he’s able to throw the ball like only Cam Newton can for the next several years, not just this season. Seems like we’re going to see anything quite different from Cam Newton this week.”
First it starts with Newton staying healthy and ensuring that his arm is on its way back to full advantage. We get to see our first full glance.
