My choice to come out of the AFC is undoubtedly the Chiefs. A perennial contender in the conference, Kansas City had a very different look in 2018 because of the explosion of Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes, who maintained the MVP Award for his leading campaign, had one of their most notable seasons we’ve seen from a quarterback in recent memory and will be primed to shred defenses for another decade-plus.
The 23-year-old gunslinger includes a litany of weapons at his disposal, and Chiefs general manager patched up his leaky defense in the offseason by earning Steve Spagnuolo since the defensive coordinator and signing up safety Tyrann Mathieu along with cornerback Bashaud Breeland.
The Chiefs defense ranked 31st in the league last year with 6,488 yards permitted, but the device will likely find a considerable improvement this year. Together with Mahomes lightning things up on offense and the protection shooting a leap, don’t be surprised if Kansas City leaves a Super Bowl run. Some of the Super Bowl matchups I enjoy value-wise are against the Green Bay Packers (+4725) and Atlanta Falcons (+5850).
