Scott Hastings’ Best CFB Bets – August 31, 2019

The complete slate of college football matches on a Saturday is upon us and it seems as good as the smell of cut grass. You may be studying your book and viewing over 50 matches, becoming overwhelmed and going back to bed. However, I’ve made picks on five games which may??allow it to be a bit simpler for you.
Here are my five most favorite college football bets for Saturday, August 24:
This line has been moving all week that has made me a happy man. I had been anticipating some motion in the other direction following the devastating injury to Alabama center linebacker Dylan Moses, who is essentially the quarterback of the protection. Meanwhile, the running backs Najee Harris and Brian Robinson will likely be suspended for the first half of the game, although that may detour individuals, this intrigues me as I am convinced coach Nick Saban may want some full-team repetitions with Tua Tagovailoa at the second half enabling more chances to rack up the score.
Alabama averaged 45.6 points per game last year and using the Tagovailoa/Jerry Jeudy link, I expect another offensive juggernaut at 2019, while the lack of Moses on the defensive side of the ball could make some openings early on this Duke may have the ability to exploit and get some crime to assist the OVER.
Back-to-back seasons, that the Texas Longhorns have fallen to unranked teams which has frightened me away from financing them in the first phases of 2019. That being said, I have a good deal of confidence in the Longhorns’ offense and quarterback Sam Ehlinger’s continued progress. Texas’ offense should be able to flex its muscles against an LA Tech team that has to replace its defensive line and contains a coordinator.
It takes two to tango and like the Bulldogs’ defensive line that is revived , the Longhorns have a new-look defense after finding victory on that aspect of the ball at 2018. In total, there are eight starters from 2018 who are not on the group this season, so certainly there will be some growing pains with this gifted defense that is young and success should be found by LA Tech offense.
I’ve been a small bullish on Michigan heading in to this 2019 season coming from an Ohio State fan. This is the fifth season with the Wolverines excuses of Jim Harbaugh, this will be the team that you have constructed and I think they get the year started off with a bang. Last year, Michigan had four wins of 35 points or more and have a seasoned veteran squad heading into 2019.
Meanwhile, the Blue Raiders played with one ranked squad last year, Week 3 at Georgia, and was swarmed 49-7. Josh Gattis is your new coordinator for the Wolverines and should spark some life to what appeared to be a bit of a stale crime at times last year. Defensively, Michigan will be one of the best colleges in the country and winning from longer or 35 in Week 1 should not come as any surprise.
The game of the Week 1 program of college football has a pair of teams. There is a whole lot of hype surrounding Oregon and its quarterback Justin Herbert heading to 2019, and rightfully so. The senior threw for over 3,000 yards with 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions as his Ducks finished 9-4.
However, true freshman Bo Nix has been not able to turn heads for Auburn. The two true freshmen to begin for a Electricity Five group both went to win the championship in Trevor Lawrence in 2019 and Tua Tagovailoa in 2018 I’m not stating the name will be won by Auburn that Nix is no joke. Additionally there’s already been seven matchups with teams that are rated and the home team is 5-2 SU and ATS in those games. The Pac-12 for a road team vs the SEC is 6-13 SU 8-10-1 ATS and hasn’t had a win because 2009.
I needed to have one underdog on the listing and I’m taking a look at the West Coast with this one. The Huskies are bringing in an FCS squad and the lineup reveals the disparity between the colleges. But, I think this is a line great enough with the Eagles coming from a strong showing in 2018 to leap .
Eastern Washington had the offense in the FCS and appeared from the FCS national championship game, but lost to North Dakota State. They have eight starters and the app previously has proved to be tough against Washington. Meanwhile, the Huskies have a quarterback that is brand new , new running overall and back had to substitute nine novices. Washington ranked 88th in offense this past year and may stumble from the gate combined with the Eagles’ crime and that’s why I am financing Eastern Washington.
