Sam Ward: Great Britain & England hockey player retires after losing sight in left eye

Fantastic Britain and England baseball participant Sam Ward has been made to retire after losing the sight in his eye.
The 28-year-old was hit by the ball throughout the Olympic qualifying play-off triumph.
Ward, who scored twice to help GB secure Tokyo 2020 qualification, sustained fractures along with a retina.
He scored 72 goals in 126 appearances for England and Great Britain.
Before assisting England to European and Commonwealth Games bronze in 2017 and 2018, ward made his international debut and represented Great Britain at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
