Richard Hannon duo could clash in Middle Park Stakes

Richard Hannon is not ruling out the possibility of allowing his two celebrity juveniles Threat week and Mums Tipple do struggle in the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.
Having bounced back from defeats at Ascot and Goodwood the Cheveley Park Stud-owned Threat stepped up to seven furlongs when landing the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster on Saturday.
Having proved his stamina over the trip that is , the Dewhurst comes into focus.
With connections eager to avert a clash with the celebrity juvenile Pinatubo of Charlie Appleby, Threat could rather fall back to six furlongs from the Middle Park – throwing up a possible clash with his stablemate and 11-length York revenue race champion Mums Tipple.
Hannon explained:”Threat has come from Doncaster absolutely fine. He is in the Middle Park and the Dewhurst, so we’ll see.
“They (Threat and Mums Tipple) have different owners, so they could (run against each other).”
Cheveley Park director Chris Richardson is also not committing to Group One decoration yet, but confessed the staggering display of Pinatubo on Sunday has contributed Threat’s staff food for consideration.
Richardson said:”He’s come from the race fine. We have got to try and determine where we go next with him.
“I guess the question is whether to go for the Middle Park or even wait for the Dewhurst. We will only have to find out what turns up.
“He came through the race the other day and I believed he’d win by two lengths, but if he struck the front he just did a lot. This was a tiny bit heart from the mouth at one point.
“Mr and Mrs Thompson (owners) can decide on where he goes. We do not wish to be preventing one horse for a lot can happen between now and then, but now I believe we will probably be preventing that (Pinatubo), with watched him sluice up in Ireland.
“We won’t make any rash choice and we will just enjoy the second. We don’t want to rush away from one horse as they could have bad days, but I guess we will just have to watch this space and find out how things develop.”
