Pinatubo the star attraction at Newmarket

All eyes will be around Pinatubo if Godolphins brilliant youngster ends to cement his position as Europes champion two-year-old with success number six from the Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.
The Shamardal colt has all carried all before him in his five races and has been getting better and better.
While his triumph in the Woodcote Stakes at Epsom on Oaks day declared down him as very promising, Pinatubo has developed into one of their best two-year-olds in recent memory, even together with impressive performances to choose the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot, Goodwoods Vintage Stakes and the National Stakes at the Curragh.
That latest triumph, by nine spans, wont be forgotten in a hurry. The handicapper was duly impressed and gave a rating of 128 – 2lb greater than Frankel as a juvenile and the greatest because Celtic Swing in 1994.
As coach Charlie Appleby clarified, however, at Moulton Paddocks at Newmarket, where hes stabled, hes not hard to forget.
At home he has been a joy to be around, said Appleby.
Hes just one of the horses you wouldnt notice in the series and that is most likely why he has been doing exactly what hes been doing, as he takes zero out of himself at home.
Happily he turns up with his A-game on raceday.
Favorable was beaten five lengths at Goodwood by Pinatubo into second position – but his trainer Clive Cox believes his colt will get nearer this time following his success from the Solario Stakes at Sandown.
He explained:Positive has done really well since he won the Solario. He also impressed us when coming up against Pinatubo on his run and had a race that day.
Like everybody else I have been extremely shot with Pinatubo, there is no disputing his quality, but I am optimistic that Favorable can demonstrate the essential improvement to close the difference for him.
Weve had a dry summer, so my view might be based more on theory than reality, but I want to believe that Positive will probably be at home on the kind of easier ground hes likely to encounter on Saturday.
The Dewhurst is really a benchmark race that points forward to next years Vintage contenders and, although I love it is a hot contest again this season, I am quite pleased I have a colt good enough to be in the line-up.
My only two preceding runners have been placed (Kodi Bear was next in 2014 and Xtension third in 2009) and Favorable is a great horse who is still on an upward curve
Aidan OBrien areas four of those nine runners in search of a seventh Dewhurst triumph.
His group comprises although Monarch to bounce back after a disappointing run in the Middle Park Stakes acquired by Godolphins Earthlight Coventry Stakes winner Arizona, that had been third to Pinatubo at the National Stakes.
The mount Wichita of ryan Moore has been a seven-length winner of the Tattersalls Stakes within distance and the course a fortnight past which led to him being chased.
