Pick Six: Neil Reynolds picks six storylines from NFL week 1

That is this 2019 NFL season’s complete Sunday from the novels and, like always, it served up plenty of points. Listed here are my views on performances and the storylines.
For months we’ve eagerly awaited the unveiling of a Cleveland Browns team laden with superstars such as quarterback Baker Mayfield, receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry; and defensive stud Myles Garrett. Even the Tennessee Titans – their week-one competitions – were presumed to be mere after-thought and weren’t supposed to fly to make the amounts up.
But the visitors won and handily by a 43-13 scoreline. The Browns were stifled with a Titans defense that recorded 3 interceptions and five sacks. However, what was even worrying was that Cleveland did as much to conquer themselves, committing a 18 penalties that are shocking. New head coach Freddie Kitchens has a week beforehand to get his group – which still wants to find out how to win with subject and consistently – straightened out
NBC Sports’ Peter King informed me Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson did hardly any running throughout training camp and joined our coverage at halftime of our match on Sunday night. Keep in mind, 2018 Jackson rushed an average of 17 times per match while just throwing in the region of 21 or 22 passes. His passing left a lot to be desired as a newcomer but not on Sunday night.
At a shellacking of this Miami Dolphins that were terrible, Lamar struck 17 of 20 attempts for yards and five touchdowns. It turned out to be a magnificent showing but we need to see more because the Dolphins might be the worst team in the league. It had been easy for the Ravens that backup passer Robert Griffin III proceeded six of six and came from the seat.
Because the Arizona Cardinals looked like stubbing their fur from the Detroit 25, the Kyler Murray experience did not seem like being a great one. Murray fought in the early going – by finishing only seven of 18 passes for 49 yards and one interception, he opened.
Since the Lions took charge of this match, the 22-year-old also required three sacks. But he balled out since the Detroit and Cardinals played woke up in the fourth quarter. The Cardinals are, by no means, currently going to be a quick cure but there is most definitely expect for the near future given their rookie quarterback improved his performance using the match on the line and awakened.
There has rightly been some gnashing of teeth when it has to do with the Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Colts lost star quarterback Andrew Luck to retirement before the beginning of the season and the Chargers went to the season without hurt handle Russell Okung, banged-up security Derwin James and holdout running Melvin Gordon.
Since the Chargers appeared as 30-24 winners in overtime, courtesy of three Austin Ekeler 22, both teams played well on Sunday. Because he subs because of his backfield 12, ekeler is busting Gordon leverage. I think they showed they’re capable of being playoff contenders this season while neither team was ideal.
There were just two observations that could be reached in 2018 regarding the Dallas Cowboys crime. One was that much of this assault was predictable and paled into comparison to attacks like New Orleans, Kansas City and the Los Angeles Rams.
The other was that most of the offense would, quite neatly, run through superstar rusher Ezekiel Elliott. However, during Sunday’s 35-17 thrashing of the New York Giants, it was the Dak Prescott show because the quarterback threw for 405 yards and four touchdowns. New offensive coordinator Kellen Moore dialed a game program up, making the Dallas offense one worth monitoring in the coming months.
No retired Hall of Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski? No starting centre David Andrews who’s injured for the year? No problem for a New England Patriots team that hammered the Pittsburgh Steelers 33-3 on Sunday night. This one wasn’t the Steelers as well as a contest, dare I mention it, seemed like they missed celebrities that were departed and bothered Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell.
While JuJu Smith-Schuster had six catches for 78 yards, running back James Conner carried 10 times for 21 yards against a New England shield that was dominant. The Pats quarterback Tom Brady sublime and were both imperious. He threw for 341 yards and three touchdowns and the rich are going to get richer. Antonio Brown is on his way. I am writing my opening Patriots links for the Super Bowl at Miami to get ahead of the game!
