Keenum, McCoy or Haskins? Odds on Which QB Will Start Week 1 for the Redskins

Despite being projected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL in 2019, the Washington Redskins have some significant decisions to make when it concerns the quarterback position. With Week two of the NFL preseason upon usoddsmakers have released props on which guy will earn the starting quarterback position when the regular season arrives.
BetOnline is dealing Case Keenum as the +100 favorite to be the starting quarterback in Week 1, with Colt McCoy (+200) and Dwayne Haskins (+250) as the underdogs. The’Skins regular-season OVER/UNDER win total was set at 6.5 at the store.
Washington head coach Jay Gruden has a major decision on his hands. Gruden, who’s Listed As The Fave are the first coach fired this season, hasn’t made any announcements as to which man will find the starting job, however visiting Keenum because the likeliest participant to do this makes sense.
According to The Washington Post, Keenum has been”probably the Redskins’ starting quarterback for now.” Keenum was traded to the Redskins from Denver in the offseason following an abysmal campaign together with the Broncos in which he threw for 18 touchdowns and also 3,890 yards along with 15 interceptions. He seems like the one that was most powerful, although keenum won’t be considered the most attractive alternative under center for Redskins fans.
McCoy has been handed the reins of the starting quarterback job this past year after Alex Smith suffered a brutal season-ending leg injury, however the Texas product suffered a season-ending accident of his own only a couple of weeks after Smith’s.
The 32-year-old continues to be with the Redskins since 2014 and knows the offense better than the other signal-callers on the roster, so don’t be surprised it Gruden chooses to proceed with McCoy from the gate.
It’s going to be a very long year in D.C., which means Haskins probably will not be hurried into action. The Redskins seemed to receive a sneak by choosing Haskins using the No. 15 pick from the 2019 NFL Draft, however, the former Ohio State standout fought in his first preseason action. Haskins completed 8 of 14 passes for 117 yards in his debut from Cleveland but was intercepted twice.
Haskins is famous for his powerful arm and poise under pressure, and he’s already viewed as the quarterback of the future for the club. But with Keenum and McCoy in the fold, it makes more sense of Haskins to see from the sidelines for the first couple weeks of the year. The Redskins might easily be from contention.
With tough games against the Eagles, Cowboys, Bears and Patriots in four from their first five weeks, Haskins is much better off on the seat. If Washington is from playoff contention shortly after, providing Haskins a shot later on might be the most suitable course of action.
