How the paddock reacted to one of their most extraordinary – and – bizarre – endings to some Formula 1 qualifying session at memory…
Martin Brundle:”This is one of the strangest things I’ve ever seen from F1.”
Karun Chandhok:”It was phenomenal. Shambolic and bizarre, I’ve never found anything like it”
Nico Rosberg:”You’re not permitted to do that, however they were doing this. They are all bang to rights!”
Paul Di Resta:”I looks silly when you’ve obtained professional teams with this technology and everyone misses out.”
Anthony Davidson:”You place more drag onto the cars, such as this year, you receive a better slipstream. You get this recipe. The straights are even more important.”
Nico Hulkenberg:”We’re all looking for a tow because in the event you want to do the ultimate fastest lap time that is exactly what you want about this. It is so much lap time powerful. When you push on your own you simply lose on the straights and also you also can not make that time in the corners up. We ended up with these conditions. Obviously it was somewhat weird and strange for certain.”
Carlos Sainz: Using all these draggier cars this season the tow is worth half a second and everybody needs that half an instant.”
Daniel Ricciardo: Everybody was merely trying to have a bit too clever and it only encouraged everybody to create a mess.”
Lewis Hamilton:”The tow is essential to getting a good lap and everybody was slowing down, along with blocking the way you couldn’t get through. It was dangerous, I crashed a couple of times.
“I could not overtake anyone, there was weaving and braking, and it had been like attempting to prevent carnage all the time.
Lance Stroll:”It was a tiny comedy show out there in Q3. Everybody just simplifies the time . I was at the front of the lineup and Nico played games , he cut at the chicane trying to catch me out and I was not buying it. So I had been taking my time, waiting for him to get back on track. Then later other cars began overtaking me and it only became a wreck.”
Charles Leclerc:”I sort of expected it since obviously it’s turned into a mess from the start of the weekend, but particularly in Q1 to Q3. I didn’t expect to find myself in a situation such as the exit of Turn Two where the Renault and McLaren was obstructing completely the street and no one may move.”
Christian Horner:”The Renault which went directly on all caused each of the problems. Obviously, nobody would like to be at the front of the queue and it is obvious he travelled. Then it ends up in a bunch situation.”
Toto Wolff:”The challenge is that everybody is hoping to get the slipstream and it’s a neural match, who exits first. Then some who’ve exited first felt thought they will need to reduce the speed even more, extending through the chicane and out of the track is simply junior course.”
Cyril Abiteboul:”Everybody is talking about the fact that the gap ought to be very low, but when that actually occurs everyone is trying to benefit from every single detail.”
