Having fallen into a bit of a funk the Cleveland Indians have lost any hope of grabbing Minnesota in the AL Central race. They’ve fallen behind both Tampa Bay and Oakland in the wild card standingsthey the Tribe did show signs of pulling from the doldrums this past weekend by taking two of three.
Cleveland will head west to complete this trip in Anaheim where the Indians have experienced a great deal of recent success against the Angels, and they’ll have among their best hurlers on the hill for the opener when Shane Bieber (13-7, 3.24) appears for his 14th win of the year.
The Angels counter with rookie Patrick Sandoval (0-2, 4.91), also 5Dimes has Cleveland to a -155 currency line. The total went out on a flat-9, but has since fallen to 81/2 and leaning’over.’
Terry Francona and his team arrive in Anaheim trailing the Twins by 51/2 from the division chase, and behind the A’s by 11/2 for the second wild card slot in the AL.. Five of seven had dropped if they took off for Minnesota this weekend, and the pitching staff did a wonderful job holding the strong Twins lineup in check to win two of three.
Cleveland had fallen 4-straight Bieber begins before he beat the White Sox in the a week, operating seven strong innings and striking out twice. He was even better in early-August from the Angels, going the distance in a 6-2 triumph on a money line in the home.
The Angels are returning home from a road trip that saw prior to carrying two of three in the White Sox in Toronto them trapped in Oakland last week. Mike Trout stays with a sore toe, also was at Chicago from the lineup at the last two games.
Sandoval was billed with one of those losses a week at Oakland, though he surrendered only 1 run. This was the second consecutive start for the rookie lefthander in and Monday is his appearance at the hitters of Cleveland.
Even the Indians loved a home sweep of the Angels when the clubs have won the last five encounters to render them 18-4 in the competition since the onset of the 2016 campaign, and met in August. Totals are 1-4 O/U during the recent series of Cleveland, and 1-3 O/U the four.
Nothing but clear skies and comfortable temps from the Anaheim forecast for Monday, Sandoval’s very first pitch coming together with the thermometer in the mid-70s and a 9-12 mph SW breeze (outside to center). I am riding with all the visitors in this one.
