Watson, 27, saved four match points to conquer planet number 42 Linette 7-5 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (8-6) in 3 hours and 2 minutes.
She reached a WTA semi-final in the Hobart International.
Im so filled with emotions right now, Watson said on court. That game was up and down from us.
Next week victory over eighth seed Linette ensures Watson will come back to the top 100.
She will play with Ukraine seed or Russias Veronika Kudermetova Dayana Yastremska to get a place at the past.
