G2 Esports’ League of Legends trainer Fabian’GrabbZ’ Lohamann revealed G2 was able to conquer Fnatic in LEC Fabian under captain Luka’ Perkz’ Perkovic’s guidance.
After they defeated Fnatic 3-2 at a thriller g2 were crowned. When they were 2-1 down, things did not look great for them but they managed to flip things around and secure a triumph that is critical in Athens.
GrabbZ has shown Perkz stepped in moments to guide his team to victory.
He said:”I need to commend Perkz. He’s got a mind of steel and he is an absolute monster when it comes to a 2-1 situation. You simply know he’d play in that type of game.
“He’s the sort of guy that his team will hold onto and you can trust him to direct you to victory. He was the voice in sport five – he even said before the show that if he’d got his hands it would be a triumph. So in the game, we made a decision to offer Syndra to him and make him the focus.
“All credit to him as per usual, moving up from SKT, RNG and now Fnatic two, you understand being 1-2 down actually is the comfort zone”
G2’s jungler Marcin’Jankos’ Jankowski also picked the LEC Summer Split MVP award. About having a relationship that is temperamental with Jankos grabbZ, who jokes, could not help but acknowledge the Polish jungler has had a wonderful season.
He said:”Jankos would be my MVP of the season too. We’ve got this banter going on where we pretend not to like each other. He gets on my nerves once I see him, and go and I only need to leave home. However, he’s very good at League of Legends and also a excellent teammate. He favors his MVP title.”
He’s still part of the broadcast when his side are still playing at the LEC even though GrabbZ isn’t a part of their staff. The coach has come to be a small meme using his throws.
He explained:”I do it now for the memes. Yes, once we go from playing to trolling I become frustrated amazingly but it’s also a combination with knowing that I’m not just a trainer, I am also an entertainer. So it’s always best to give the viewers a reason. That is what G2 are about, we are not only athletes or simply a League of Legends team.
G2’s domestic and international dominance this year means they have become among the favourites going into this year’s League of Legends World Championship. GrabbZ, who is well aware of the expectations, believes they do have a great probability of winning the championship.
He said:”Being the favourites is obviously iffy because we haven’t beaten teams like IG yet or faced some of the different regions.
“We believe we’ve got a great chance but we do not find ourselves as the assured winners. Should we play with our game and prepare well, we’ve got a fantastic shot at winning. I believe I would be disappointed when we don’t achieve the final but it depends on the circumstances.”
G2 qualified for Worlds as Europe seed meaning they have advanced straight to the set stages – beginning October 12.
