La Liga have asked to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) that this month’s El Clasico meeting between Barcelona and Real Madrid be transferred to Madrid amid growing protests and political worries in Catalonia.
Nine Catalan separatist leaders were jailed in an illegal referendum and following independence bid, sparking clashes and protests throughout the region.
The match is scheduled to happen on Saturday October 26 in Barca’s Nou Camp. On the other hand, the football league is trying to reverse the fixture because of continuing trouble throughout the autonomous region.
The season’s meeting is due to occur in Madrid in March next year.
