Charles Leclerc’s Italian GP win described as ‘extraordinary’

Charles Leclerc’s Push to win an Excellent Italian GP was hailed as”extraordinary” by Sky F1’s Martin Brundle after the Child held off both Mercedes, to the Joy of Their raucous Ferrari fans at Monza.

Leclerc promised victory from pole but was under a continuous danger from the Mercedes, first viewing off Lewis Hamilton after a few enthralling wheel-to-wheel battles – with the championship leader forced off the trail at one stage – before then remaining ahead of Valtteri Bottas at the closing stages.

“I’m very happy I saw that drive firsthand,” said Brundle.
“It had been an outstanding drive. The most intense stress, he retained it all together.”
Nico Rosberg, the 2016 world champion and long-time competition to Hamilton, stated:”An unbelievable drive. I know how he felt in that car like that I don’t know how many times, because I had Lewis in my gearbox. The stress Lewis puts on when he’s there, you can’t create the smallest of errors.
“Leclerc created one little mistake but he rescued it beautifully, shielded it and it was great.”
Rosberg added:”Today is the kind of drive where he showed he can and probably will soon be a Ferrari world champion within another couple of years whenever the car enables him to do it.”
The pressure is withstood by leclerc
Leclerc, 21, was handed a flag, the equal of a warning with all the Mercedes driver arguing that he was given no space when trying to decode.
