Adrian Lewis refreshed and revitalised in hunt for major TV title

Adrian Lewis is feeling refreshed after his summertime as he sets his sights on winning a primary person name since 2014.
The two-time world winner has suffered a combined 2019 far, but he’s convinced of recapturing his form at the right time later this season as he targets a third triumph in the Alexandra Palace.
The mercurial Stoke-on-Trent star won his PDC standing title at March since April 2017 , beating Raymond van Barneveld to acquire a Players Championship event in Barnsley.
‘Jackpot’ has been unable to build on that achievement and he has failed to proceed beyond any PDC standing event’s semi-finals since.
“I believe I have had an up and down year,” Lewis told Sky Sports.
“I won a Pro Tour, I’ve created a number of semi’s and finals but as a whole it can be better, I have only got to keep working at it actually.
“That is the time where you want to start hitting top form now, this is the time you have to work very hard in establishing towards the World Championships, there’s that many TV tournaments currently coming up.”
His performances in televised events have been particularly underwhelming Though Lewis has shown glimpses of his colorful on the parade that term.
He’s failed to enroll a victory in a Significant TV event enduring opening round exits at World Matchplay, UK Open and the Experts against Jamie Lewis Peter Wright and Glen Durrant .
The next major televised tournament on the calendar is October’s World Grand Prix in Dublin, a tournament where Lewis has not progressed since reaching the final in 2010.
With a collection of tournaments around the horizon, the world winner is convinced of climbing back up the rankings and incorporating another title to his haul, since he bids to finish his inaugural drought.
“My target is merely to jump as large as I can in the rankings really,” the former Premier League star said.
“I’m sitting at number 15 today, I’m not really defending anything from today until the World Championship, so just keep moving up now.
“I’ll see if I can pinch just a small TV tournament here or there, hopefully the Worlds. You must get yourself.
“If you can not get yourself appropriate for that you shouldn’t be enjoying. That is the biggest one the Worlds, next is the World Matchplay and you’d have to say the Premier League I presume.”
Lewis defended #30,000 in prize money in the Matchplay by virtue of reaching the semi-finals at 2017 and his defeat Durrant watched him relinquish his spot from the world 16 – a position he has recovered.
“Obviously I was defending the semi-final of this World Matchplay which knocked me losing to Glen [Durrant] at the very first round,” that the 34-year-old added.
“This was a tough draw but they’re all tough draws. It depends on if not you don’t win if you develop then you have got a great opportunity.
“I think the averages are fairly similar to what they have been throughout but the odd game people are knocking in 110 and 115’s. That’s happening on a regular basis today.”
But while some of the biggest names of the PDC were competing Down Under on the World Series circuit’Jackpot’ appreciated some time away from the game and he’s returned feeling refreshed.
Lewis, who also marked his return to competitive activity using another round defeat to Cameron Menzies in the ancestral Darts Championship of last weekend, considers it is essential to obtain the appropriate balance.
“Clearly all of the boys had been over at the World Series at which I just took five weeks off enjoying,” he said.
“I’d just had two hours exercise before last weekend, but that is where I begin building up now.
“It’s important to spend time with your family. You’ve got to get the perfect balance. You will then just burn , if it’s all darts.
“I think after that break everyone wants to return to it and receive a little normality back to your own life.”
It’s not long to wait until darts goes back to Sky Sports, the World Grand Prix gets underway Sunday, October 6 at Dublin’s Citywest Arena October 12, and seven days of coverage continues until the closing on Saturday.
